The Scientific Advisory Committee of the 16th Gathering in Biosemiotics invites scholars and researchers from all over the world to submit abstracts of presentations that center on the various roles sign-processes play in living systems, and the evolution of those processes.

We particularly welcome research that brings novel contributions to the field in the following areas:

  • Evolutionary biosemiotics
  • Multi-level semiosis and integrative approaches
  • Inter-species & Intra-species communication
  • Semiotic processes in Systems Biology
  • Developmental biosemiotics
  • Ecological biosemiotics & Umwelt theory
  • Zoosemiotics & Semiotic approaches to ethology
  • The biosemiotics of language development
  • Biosemiotics and cognition
  • The biosemiotics of health and disease
  • The implications and relations of biosemiotics to philosophy and humanities

Abstracts should be 300-600 words, in a standard word processing format (Times New Roman 12 point font, and A4 page size).

Abstracts should be submitted as single page files to the following address: biosemiotics2016@natur.cuni.cz and received no later than February 20 2016 March 13 2016. Please name the abstract file with the author’s (your) surname in capital letters, for instance MARKOS.doc.
